I am currently working with the Bridge to Skate Organization in planning a premier for the 5Boro “Join or Die” video that was released in February. Granted, we are a few months late, but there hasn’t been an official West Coast premier and honestly, who DOESN’T love video premiers, babes, beers, the possibility of winning free shit and a good time?

What we’ve decided to include in this event is Plywood for Peace. All of the artists involved create on skateboards. They can be used or new, long or short- but we have the skateboards as the theme, so anything goes after that. The night of the event, we’ll auction off all of the boards. Depending on the venue, sometimes we have the bidding go for a week or so. All of the art is a donation to the cause but, it’s a great way to get an unknown artist a little recognition, and if we have room, sometimes we open an area for art to be sold where a percentage goes to the cause and the other goes in the artists pocket!

Bridge to Skate had a very successful event last year in Costa Mesa, CA at the ARTery @ the Lab gallery and since nothing usually goes on in Sacramento for causes/organizations like this, I think we could make this one even better.

If you are interested in participating, please contact myself or Bridge to Skate (all information will be listed at the end of this post). If you are in need of a canvas to get you started, let us know. We will send a board your way and if you live near me, I will personally deliver ;) Again, this is a wonderful cause to get involved in and who knows, those artists that submit could possible go home with a little more in their pocket than when they entered the building.

We are currently getting our venue on lock and will update with a tentative date for this event. Just know, it will be within the next month or closer to June.
